Smoking at Kings Landing

This message is being posted to remind residents and their visitors about smoking in common areas of King's Landing

Owners, residents and their visitors should be aware that the interior and exterior common areas of King's Landing are part of an entirely non-smoking complex. Smoking is not allowed in building lobbies, hallways, elevators or stairwells, or in any exterior area including the building entrances, driveways, courtyard and vehicle turnaround. Smokers must retreat from King's Landing property to city sidewalks.

Smoking is permitted on the Club Soleil patio and rooftop during the time that specific facility bookings have been approved. Residents may allow smoking on their private balconies and patios; however, residents who allow cigarettes or matches to be thrown or dropped from those balconies or patios may face a fine.

I encourage all owners and residents to respect their neighbours'enjoyment of their properties by following these non-smoking bylaws, and thereby assisting in keeping King's Landing a clean and enjoyable living space for all.

Donating Food over the Holidays

In response to requests to have a box for food bank donations, Council suggests that those who wish to donate consider doing it through the Quest Outreach Society: Gordon Alteman explains how this will leverage your donation many times over:

Quest Outreach Society is a charity that acts as a food "wholesaler" to hundreds of social service agencies in the Lower Mainland. In return for charitable tax receipts over 200 commercial food wholesalers donate a wide variety of food that is excess to market, slightly damaged or near date
expiry. Quest then provides this food at very low cost to social service agencies and those they serve via food outlets and direct deliveries.

As Quest's only costs are distribution related it is able to leverage the retail cost of similar food many times over. This means that it makes much more sense to donate funds rather than food during this this time of increased need.

Please donate generously this Christmas season. If you wish to contribute please make cheques payable to Quest Outreach Society and leave them with concierge. I will collect same and make sure they get to Quest.
